A Major Character Is Set to Return for THE RING Sequel, RINGS
I’m actually kind of excited for the upcoming sequel to The Ring. We previously reported that it would be a prequel, but that’s not the case at all. Rings is indeed a sequel, and there’s a big character from the first two films who will play a major role in the story.
The following information comes from STYD, and it does contain SPOILERS:
The character Aidan Keller, who was played by David Dorfman in previous movies, will be back. In case you don’t remember, he’s the son of Naomi Watts’ Rachel Keller. According to this new report, he will tie into the plot of the new movie, and will obviously appear as an adult. There’s no word yet on if Dorfman will reprise the role himself, but it would be kind of cool if he did.
Rings is currently in production. It takes place 13 years after the first film and stars Alex Roe as Holt, who is described as a young man who begins to become distant from his girlfriend (Matilda Lutz) after watching the infamous deadly videotape the horror franchise is known for. There are no other details on the movie.
It’s being directed by F. Javier Gutierrez (Before the Fall), from a script by Academy Award-winning writer Akiva Goldsman. It would be great if it turned out being just as scary as the previous films.
Rings is set to be released on November 13th, 2015.
