A Version of GHOST RIDER Might Be Appearing in AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. After All

About a week ago, a piece of promo art for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was spotted in San Diego for Comic-Con. It featured a long flaming chain, which led fans to speculate that maybe Ghost Rider would be showing up in the series. I figured it would just be a story arc involving Hellfire, who also sports a flaming chain, but now it's starting to look like a version of Ghost Rider will show up after all!

A new casting notice that leaked recently suggests that Ghost Rider will make an appearance in the series, but it's not a version of the character you would expect. The most iconic version of Ghost Rider is Johnny Blaze, who was portrayed by Nicolas Cage in two films. He's not the only version of the character that has existed in the comics, though.

The characters mentioned in the casting notice are listed as a pair of Latino brothers. One of them is described as "the most dangerous person in the room" and the other is said to be "paralyzed in a wheelchair." These character descriptions bear a very close resemblance to Robbie and Gabe Reyes, who were the main characters in the 2014 Marvel NOW! Ghost Rider series.

That comic was a new take on Ghost Rider and it focused on a bond between brothers. The characters are described as:

A talented young mechanic with a penchant for anything with an engine and electronic music, but above all else he loves his little brother Gabe. When his plan to get Gabe out of East L.A. goes fatally awry, he is resurrected by the Spirit of Eli Morrow into the supernatural being, the All-New Ghost Rider!

His brother Gabe is disabled. The Reyes version of Ghost Rider has all the classic powers as the original and he also drives around on Hell-Charger, a hellfire imbued 1969 Dodge Charger. The character would definitely be an intriguing inclusion in Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and a unique way to bring in the character. Who knows, though, if it all plays out this way, maybe I'll actually come back and watch the show!

Would you be excited to version of Ghost Rider included in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?
