Adorable International Trailer for Disney’s MOANA Features a Playful Ocean
Disney has released a new international trailer for their upcoming animated film Moana. It features some charming new footage that was previously only screened for Disney fans at the D23 Expo last year. The footage focuses on Moana as an adorable young toddler who finds herself on the ocean shore. As she approaches the water, it starts to play with her.
Director Ron Clements has previously explained that the Pacific Ocean is a very important character in the movie. When doing research for the film, he found that the people of the South Pacific interacted with the ocean like a person and treated it like a friend. I don’t see how anyone can watch this trailer and not be left with a smile on their face.
Moana was also directed by John Musker (Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, The Princess and the Frog), and it follows Moana (voiced by Auli’i Cravalho) who is guided by the demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson) on an adventure in the South Pacific. Here’s the full synopsis:
Three thousand years ago, the greatest sailors in the world voyaged across the vast Pacific, discovering the many islands of Oceania. But then, for a millennium, their voyages stopped – and no one knows why.
From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes “Moana,” a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana (voice of Auli’i Cravalho) meets the once-mighty demigod Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder. Together, they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity.
Moana sails into U.S. theaters on November 23rd, 2016.
