Angelina Jolie Wanted For BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN and WANTED 2
Did anyone see Angelina Jolie's latest film By The Sea? Well, it's completely bombing at the box office. I haven't seen it for two reasons: it looks depressing as hell and everyone I know that has seen it has said it sucks ass. You can read our review for it here. Regardless of the fact that the movie is bombing, it's not going to kill Jolie's career and Universal Pictures still wants to work with her. They just want these future projects to be more mainstream projects.
According to THR, the studio wants the actress to star in their feature film remake of Bride of Frankenstein, which is part of the monster cinematic universe that is being developed by producers Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan. They are also looking to bring her back to reprise her role in a sequel to Wanted.
Jolie really seems perfect for the part of the female lead in Bride of Frankenstein. She's just got that look. It'd be cool if she was cast, but I still have serious doubts that Universal is actually going to be able to reboot these classic monster films properly.
As for Wanted 2, her character freakin' died at the end of the first movie. Sometimes dead just has to mean dead. As much as I enjoyed Wanted, if they do a sequel, I'd rather it happen without Jolie's character. The fact they want to bring her back makes the whole thing absurd. I'm surprised they are still looking at making it after all these years!
