Anne Hathaway to Star in Giant Monster Movie COLOSSAL
Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes) is writing and directing a giant monster movie movie for Voltage Pictures called Colossal, and Anne Hathaway is set to star in it.
This sounds like an intriguing film project, described as being a combination of films such as Godzilla and Lost in Translation. According to THR, Hathaway will play a character named Gloria, "an ordinary woman who, after losing her job and her fiancé, decides to leave her life in New York to move back to her hometown." Then things take a very weird and unexpected turn...
When news reports surface that a giant lizard is destroying the city of Tokyo, Gloria gradually comes to realize that she is strangely connected to these far-off events via the power of her mind. In order to prevent further destruction, Gloria needs to determine why her seemingly insignificant existence has such a colossal effect on the fate of the world.
The project definitely has my attention! Vigalondo has made some fun films that also include Open Windows and segments of the horror anthology films ABCs of Death and V/H/S: Viral. He said in a statement,
"Colossal is my most ambitious script so far, and probably also the most personal one. Having Anne and this terrific team around goes beyond my craziest expectations."
Voltage CEO Nicolas Chartier added,
“As huge fans of Timecrimes, we are thrilled to be collaborating with a filmmaker as talented as Nacho. He has written an extraordinarily unique piece of material and we look forward to seeing Anne in such a challenging role."
Colossal seems like it has the potential to be a super cool movie, and I can't wait to see how it turns out!
