Arnold Schwarzenegger Gives Update on CONAN Sequel and Reveals New Title

One of my most anticipated projects for Arnold Schwarzenegger since it was announced several years ago is his Conan sequel. It's been awhile since we've heard anything about the project, and I feared it was dead because the actors box office draw isn't what it used to be. I'm happy to report that the new film project involving Robert E. Howard's badass fantasy character is still alive.

The movie was previously called The Legend of Conan, but the actor reveals that the title has gone through a change and is now called Conan the Conquerer, which is a name I can totally get behind! Conan the Conqueror was supposed to be the title of the previously planned sequel to 1987’s Conan the Destroyer. It looks like the title stuck with the actor after all these years.

Talking about the film with The Arnold Fans, Schwarzenegger talks about the basic plot of the story and what starts it:

"Conan the Conqueror, where I’m sitting on the throne for years and years - decades, and then all of the sudden, the time comes when they want to overthrow me. So that story WILL be told and that movie WILL be done."
“Yes,” as a matter of fact, it (The Legend of Conan) has been written and we are now looking for directors so this is a serious drive (now for Conan).”

The actor goes on to talk about his ability fulfill the role of Conan physically. He doesn't seem to be too concerned, though. He's confident that he's can do what he needs to do.

"One of the advantages for when you train every day, when you bicycle everyday, when you work out every day is that age is not registering in the body the same with everyone else. Because when you stay in shape, you do turn back the clock. So I feel great and the last few movies that I’ve done, I’ve done many of my own stunts. I did all the physical stuff and it didn’t wipe me out and I have plenty of energy and feel really terrific. So I am absolutely convinced that I can do the Conan movie and do the horseback riding, the sword fights and all the fighting.”

So even though Schwarzenegger is 69 years old, he's ready to take his shirt off, oil himself up, gird his loins, and kick some ass. Hopefully they hire a great director to take it on. As a huge fan of Conan, I have high hopes for this, and I believe that this is the best thing Schwarzenegger could do right now.
