Awesome Early Concept and Poster Art for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS
Star Wars: The Force Awakens was such a beautifully designed film. I love how so many aspects of it were inspired by the concept art that was created by Ralph McQuarrie for the original Star Wars trilogy.
Thanks to Wired we have a collection of amazingly cool concept art the was done to help bring The Force Awakens to life. The art you see here is a lot of early stuff created by artist Phil Szostak, and it’s included in the coffee table book The Art of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
As you’ll see below, they offer us some of the alternate designs for the movie that were never used. Some of these images include the downed Star Destroyer on Jakku, an alternate version of BB-8, and several different ideas for First Order stormtroopers.
I also included a cool piece of poster art at the very bottom created by artist Erica Tan.
