Backstreet Boys and ‘NSync Team Up for Zombie Western DEAD 7

The producer behind SyFy Channel’s Sharknado franchise is developing another absurd film project called Dead 7. It’s a futuristic zombie western that will bring together members of boy bands Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC. After all these years, they will finally team up to fight zombies. The script was written by Nick Carter, the youngest member of The Backstreet Boys, and this is what he told Rolling Stone in an interview:

“It’s a zombie Western futuristic horror movie. My character is still being worked out right now, but I’m a good guy that’s going to help save the day. There’s a wish list of people that I want. I want it to be musically based. I might reach out to Jordan [Knight] from the New Kids on the Block.”

Of course he had to make himself the hero of the story! Also joining the project from the bands are Howie Dorough, A.J. McLean, and Joey Fatone, who had this to say:

“I get to be the drunk… Typecast! I’m the only ‘NSync-er as of now, but you never know. Nick’s vision is to bring some other people in that genre that have never really done a lot of film but that were in music in the Nineties and 2000s. We’ve never done anything together collectively. People always think [Backstreet and ‘NSync] are some sort of rivals. But it’s so funny – there’s never been animosity or anything like that. Now we’re setting the record straight by doing a film together.”

The Asylum’s David Latt is producing the film. Here’s what he had to say about it:

“What [Carter] came to us with was a big idea of pop music stars in a genre setting. A lot of the platforms, distributors and companies we work with responded to that immediately and we knew we had something we should move forward with.”

You know what would be funny? If former *NSYNC frontman Justin Timberlake signed on for the project. That might make the whole thing worth it. This whole concept is a gimmick that is absolutely ridiculous, but you know what? It will probably be a huge hit, and that makes me sad.
