BAD SANTA 2 is Happening, and Billy Bob Thornton Will Be Back
After delivering a frightening (and frighteningly good) performance in the first season of Fargo, Billy Bob Thornton is reuniting with one of that show's producers to make a sequel to his Christmas comedy Bad Santa.
Thornton will reprise his role of thief-turned-mall-Santa Willie Soke in Bad Santa 2, which will begin filming in Montreal this January for a holiday 2016 release. No writer or director has been revealed at this time, which is likely the only troublesome aspect of this announcement for fans of the mean-spirited 2003 original.
Fargo's Geyer Kosinski is producing, and I assume he and Thornton talked this out during their down time on the show. Miramax and Broad Green Pictures will co-finance and co-produce. No word yet on whether "The Kid" will return as well, but since actor Brett Kelly looked like this in 2013, chances are he's a little too big to sit on Thornton's lap:
