BATMAN VS. ROBIN WonderCon 2015 Panel - Video

Last year, DC Animation debuted Son of Batman to an audience that turned quite hostile during the question and answer portion of the panel that followed the screening. When I found out that they were returning to WonderCon this year to premiere Batman vs. Robin, which continues the Bruce and Damian Wayne storyline, I was admittedly hoping for an equally confrontational crowd — last year was seriously a total train wreck! Fortunately, for the gracious talent who attended, the panel had a better moderator (aside from some cringeworthy fangirl fawning) and things didn’t get as heated.

Free Reyes recorded the entire panel, which consisted of producer James Tucker, director Jay Oliva, writer J.M. DeMatteis, designer Phillip Bourassa, and voice-director Andrea Romano, as well as returning voice actors Sean Maher (Dick Grayson/Nightwing), Stuart Allan (Damian Wayne/Robin), and Jason O'Mara (Bruce Wayne/Batman). They do get into some spoilers as they discuss various aspects of the production and how they cherry-picked elements from Scott Snyder’s beloved Court of Owls series, but nothing that would completely ruin the mostly action-driven animated feature for you. Highlights from the video include everyone talking about their favorite iteration of Robin, as well as Jason O'Mara’s story about literally being choked by Kevin Conroy (who voices Thomas Wayne in the film) after telling him that he was the guy taking over as the voice of Batman. Bonus: try counting how many times our resident 16-going-on-30-year-old Stuart Allen says “definitely” and “first of all.”

As we get closer to the April 14th Blu-ray release date for Batman vs. Robin, we’ll post our full video review that we recorded while at the convention. So stay tuned for that.
