Ben Affleck Has Written a Script For a Solo BATMAN Film
Last year, word came out that Ben Affleck was going to co-write a standalone Batman film with DC's Geoff Johns, and now THR reports that the two have completed the draft and it's floating around as an "option" for Warner Bros. to pursue.
The outlet spoke with William Morris Endeavor's Patrick Whitesell, who revealed the following information:
"He's contracted to do at least Justice League One and Two, so at least three times wearing the cape," he says, adding, "there's a script that he's written that is a really cool [Batman] idea, so that's out there as an option."
There have been tons of rumors about Affleck's involvement with this project (including that it could be the first of a trilogy and could follow the Red Hood storyline), but I believe this is the first we're hearing about it that's rock-solid information and not just speculation or conjecture.
Affleck's Batman is being hailed as one of the best parts of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. He'll make a cameo in Suicide Squad this August before appearing again in the two-part Justice League film (which, despite the fan protest, will still be directed by Zack Snyder). It remains to be seen exactly when Warner Bros. will drop a solo Batman film into their release schedule, but I imagine we'll be hearing more about it very soon.
