Ben Affleck on How THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS Influenced BATMAN V SUPERMAN

Ben Affleck is currently doing the press tour for his new film Gone Girl, and he can't escape the questions about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. That's got to be a little annoying for him, but he does throw a few little things here and there to make the fans happy. During an interview with MTV, the actor was asked about the influence of Frank MIller's The Dark Knight Returns on the film he's making, and he said,

"Yeah, I don't want to answer too many Batman questions because it is a Gone Girl thing, but I will say that I think Zack [Snyder] was heavily influenced by that. I think everyone's heavily influenced by that...that's the seminal work. So, I don't think that there's any of these which have been made that haven't drawn from that book because it's so good. So, you know, I think if you're smart you steal from the best. That's why I'm going to rip David [Fincher] off from now on everywhere I go!"

It seems like this new Batman film will be the movie that has been most heavily influenced by Miller's comic, though, which is great! I've always wanted to see that story brought to life, and this may be the closest we ever get to it. At one point in the interview, Affleck was asked to do the Batman that he's doing for the movie. To that he replied,

"Ah, you've gotta pay...that's IMAX money to see that!"

You can watch the video interview below. Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is set to be released on March 25th, 2016.
