Benicio Del Toro Will Be Back as The Collector in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2

Benicio del Toro was introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as The Collector during a post credits scene in Thor: The Dark World. I remember a lot of audience members being like, "What the hell was that!?" When James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy was released we learned a lot more about The Collector, and I knew that wouldn't be the last we saw of him. I have always thought that this character had an important role in the MCU, and now it's been confirmed that he'll be back for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

The news comes from actress Zoe Saldana, who posted a video on Facebook in which she says that we will see Del Toro's The Collector in the sequel. Of course, there are no details given about how big of a part he'll play, but I assume that maybe it will probably be a little bigger this time around.

There's still so much that we don't know about the sequel because its so early in the development process. But Gunn did give up the following info:

"At its heart, Guardians is a story about families, and if the first film was about him and his mother, this is a story about fathers. So it’s exciting to go there. I think it’s about getting to know the characters a little bit more. You know, in the first one, we kind of had one hand tied behind our backs because we had to introduce all those characters in one movie. And in this one we really get to play and have a good time and have fun. And then also get a little bit more — I don’t want to say serious, but go a little bit deeper with who the characters are… I think the characters of Gamora and Nebula and Yondu, those are some characters we get to know a little bit more, in a way we got to know some of the other characters more in the first movie."

I have no doubt that Gunn is going to give fans another incredible, action-packed, soulful, and funny movie. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be released in theaters May 5th, 2017.
