Blood-Soaked Gameplay Trailer for MORTAL KOMBAT X Reveals More Playable Characters
When I was in elementary school, I remember hearing adults freak out about the violence in the original Mortal Kombat video game. If those same people saw this new trailer for Mortal Kombat X, they'd vomit instantaneously.
The trailer reveals that Kung Lao, Kitana, and Goro will all be playable characters - although you have to pre-order the game to be able to play as Goro.
I played these games occasionally when I was growing up (I was decent at the GameCube version), but it wasn't until I saw this new gameplay trailer that I wondered if maybe this series has finally gone too far with its violence. Did anyone else have sort of a gross, sinking feeling in their stomachs as they watched this trailer? I never really had a problem with the ridiculous fatalities or any of the gore in the series before, but I think the scene of a guy having his face sliced by a buzzsaw and chopped to shreds by Kitana's fan blades might be (and I realize how insane this sounds) getting a bit too realistic. Realistic may be the wrong word - I think "visceral" is what I'm going for. Maybe I'm just not cut out for the gore of this franchise anymore. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
Mortal Kombat X arrives on Xboxes, PlayStations 3 and 4 and PC on April 14.
