Bradley Cooper to Recur on LIMITLESS TV Show

Over the past few years, Bradley Cooper has become one of the biggest movie stars in the world. The Hangover films, Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle, Guardians of the Galaxy, and 2014's highest grossing movie, American Sniper, have made him a household name. But also mixed in to his filmography are a few lesser-known films like 2011's Limitless, a thriller in which he plays a man who unlocks 100% of his brain capacity thanks to a mysterious drug. CBS is turning that movie into a TV show, and now Deadline says Cooper will reprise his role of Eddie Mora on the show. He'll reportedly appear as a recurring character as often as his schedule allows.

Limitless centers on Brian Finch (Jake McDorman) — a new character that exists in the same world as Eddie Mora — who discovers the brain-boosting power of the mysterious drug NZT and is coerced by the FBI into using his extraordinary cognitive abilities to solve complex cases for them. Unbeknownst to the FBI, Brian also has a clandestine relationship with Senator Edward Mora (Cooper), a presidential hopeful and regular user of NZT who has plans of his own for his new protégé.

This seems like a big deal, because movie stars of Cooper's caliber don't often pull double duty in film and television simultaneously. It's different when people gain popularity due to their TV work and stick with the show out of either contractual obligations or a sense of loyalty, like Melissa McCarthy on Mike and Molly or Chris Pratt on Parks and Recreation. Cooper has appeared on TV before (he had a well-received run on J.J. Abrams' Alias and recurred on FX's Nip/Tuck, among other things), but aside from his upcoming stint on Netflix's Wet Hot American Summer prequel, this will be the only time since 2009 he'll be involved with a TV show.

The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb helmed the pilot episode, and the show will air on Tuesdays at 10pm this fall on CBS. Will Cooper's presence be enough to get people to tune in to the show, even if they haven't seen the original movie?
