Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence's Sci-Fi Romance PASSENGERS Gets Official Greenlight

With people like Keanu Reeves, Reese Witherspoon, and Rachel McAdams attached at various points, the sci-fi film Passengers has finally received a greenlight from Sony Pictures with Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence in the lead roles. THR reports that the stellar opening for Jurassic World played a part in Tom Rothman's decision to move ahead with the movie, since it's now confirmed that both stars are gigantic box office draws.

The sci-fi love story centers on a man (Pratt) who is accidentally awoken from cryo-sleep on a decades-long interstellar voyage and decides to wake up a fellow passenger (Lawrence) so he doesn't have to be alone. Sounds a little selfish to me, but if there's anyone who should be able to make a move like that seem charismatic instead of creepy, it's Pratt.

Since Jurassic World scored the highest opening weekend of all time, Pratt's salary reportedly jumped from $10 million to $12 million, while Lawrence is getting a much better deal: $20 million against 30% of the profits after the film breaks even. The $120 million film starts production next month under the direction of The Imitation Game helmer Morten Tyldum. It was written by Jon Spaihts (Prometheus, Doctor Strange).
