Common Joins Cast of SUICIDE SQUAD, But Who Is He Playing?
Many people (myself included) are more interested in Suicide Squad than Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. It doesn't bear the weight of having to set up the Justice League and prove to the world that the DCCU is a viable plan, and since Suicide Squad is already in production, there's no danger of it being cancelled before we ever get to see it. Plus, it has a pretty awesome cast, and I'm interested to see how an A-list star like Will Smith plays in an ensemble.
Well, that already-impressive cast continues to expand. THR reports that rapper/actor Common has joined the cast of David Ayer's new movie, but they aren't certain which character he'll play. Could it be Green Lantern? He was cast in that role a few years ago, back when George Miller was going to make a Justice League movie. That project fell apart due to the Writers' Strike, but with a Green Lantern solo film on the horizon (currently planned for 2020), it's conceivable that WB would give Common another shot at playing John Stewart.
But that's only speculation. We'll have to wait until someone figures out who he's really playing, but in the mean time, I'd love to hear your guesses in the comments below.
Suicide Squad stars Will Smith (Deadshot), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flagg), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), Jay Hernandez (El Diablo), Karen Fukuhara (Plastique), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Jared Leto (Joker), and Ike Barinholtz, and it hits theaters on August 5th, 2016.
