Cool Video Shows The First & Last Shots of Films Played Side By Side Simultaneously
When I watch movies, I'm always on the lookout for repetition. Filmmakers often use the same framing or sometimes even the same shot to help tell their story, whether it's as visual shorthand to help establish the passing of time, to hammer home the themes of the movie, or to show character growth by actively breaking that repetition. Sometimes the first and last images we see in a movie have a thematic resonance, and now editor Jacob T. Swinney has put together a supercut of dozens of first and final shots of various movies.
It's an interesting way to reexamine some of our favorite films, and putting them side by side can reveal some fascinating things - like the fact that the show of Rosamund Pike's head that opens and closes Gone Girl is not actually the same exact shot, like I previously thought it was. Take a look below, and see for yourselves.
