Cruise The L.A. Streets With This Supercut of DRIVE and NIGHTCRAWLER's Driving Scenes

By this point, I'm assuming pretty much everyone has seen Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive. It was the Danish director's breakout American movie, and Ryan Gosling's stoic turn as a getaway driver turned a lot of heads back in 2011. (You can read my review from that year's LA Film Festival if you want.) Dan Gilroy's Nightcrawler, on the other hand, may have still slipped under the radar for a lot of you, and if you're interested in great films set in Los Angeles, this one should be on your list of things to check out. It's a staggeringly impressive directorial debut with a killer performance from Jake Gyllenhaal, and it features some of the best "L.A. at night" shots since Michael Mann's Collateral.

Editor Jack Mugglestone (I'm assuming that's an alias) has put together a little supercut called "Driving at Night" that mashes up the driving sequences from both Drive and Nightcrawler, and it's a great comparison of the cinematography of both movies as their lead characters take to the streets. It's also a nice excuse to listen to Kavinsky's synth-heavy "Nightcall" again. Buckle up and check it out below:
