CULT OF CHUCKY Promo Teaser and Synopsis Revealed

"A true classic never goes out of style."

Cult of Chucky in the seventh installment in the Child's Play franchise, and today we have a teaser trailer for the film along with a synopsis offering us details on what this new horror story will entail. Who would have thought that this franchise would last so long?!

The film isn't supposed to start shooting until next week, so there's no footage from it in the teaser. This promo just uses footage from the previous films. Cult of Chucky is written and directed by Don Mancini, who co-wrote the original film and also wrote and directed the last two film installments including 2004’s Seed of Chucky and 2013’s Curse of Chucky

Brad Dourif will return to provide the voice of Chucky, and the actor’s daughter Fiona is set to reprise her role of Nica Pierce. The sequel also brings back Alex Vincent and Jennifer Tilly. Here's the synopsis:

Confined to an asylum for the criminally insane for the past four years, Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif) is erroneously convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when her psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic “tool” to facilitate his patients’ group sessions — an all-too-familiar “Good Guy” doll with an innocently smiling face — a string of grisly deaths begins to plague the asylum, and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn’t crazy after all. Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent), Chucky’s now-grown-up nemesis from the original Child’s Play, races to Nica’s aid. But to save her he’ll have to get past Tiffany (Oscar®-nominee Jennifer Tilly), Chucky’s long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll.

In a statement to EWGlenn Ross, General Manager and Executive Vice President, Universal 1440 Entertainment said:

“It’s hard to believe that it’s been nearly 30 years since Chucky first terrified moviegoers in Child’s Play. Since then the films have generated millions in worldwide box-office revenue. Now Chucky’s back with more scores to settle in his trademark twisted style, and you can bet he won’t stop until he gets his revenge.”

There's no word on when the film will be released, but it sounds like a film that fans can look forward to.
