The CW Releasing Free App For Current Episodes of Your Favorite Shows

This season you'll be able to watch the current seasons of all your favorite CW shows for free with no cable subscription! iDigitalTimes reports that a new The CW app will be available next week on Roku, Chromecast, Apple TV, Xbox One, and more for free with no login required. The latest episodes of every prime time series will be available on the app on demand, and the network will no longer be offering next day uploads of their new episodes to Hulu. They'll also be releasing the full season of their shows on Netflix a few days after their finales on the network.

What the app will not have are the previous seasons of the current shows, but those are already available via Netflix. 

The move seems incredibly odd seeing as CBS is still pushing subscription only with its All Access platform and still holding out on letting fans see the whole season of the upcoming Star Trek: Discovery without paying first. It's a welcome change, and hopefully, a test run to see if other companies will adapt to a free model so we can get Star Trek down the road!
