DAREDEVIL — Charlie Cox Talks Darker Approach and Video of Full NYCC Panel

Marvel's first original Netflix series coming in 2015 is Daredevil starring Charlie Cox as the title character. THR was able to talk to Cox about preparing for the role of Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil, and the show's take on the hero.

Cox on production of Daredevil:

"It's great fun, but it also comes with a great deal of responsibility. I wasn't really aware of how vast the comic book world was until I became part of the Marvel universe. I went to [New York] Comic Con last week, and it's really important to a lot of people. It really is. I'm having a great time."

His preparation for the role:

"I've read comics after comics after comics — I've never read so many comics in my life, and we're finding moments from the comics to reference in the show."

The show's take on the Daredevil:

"We're trying to make a show that's new and much, much darker than anything I've ever seen Marvel do before. The concept that he can't stop. He's going out and he's taking the law into his own hands, and he doesn't know if he can stop. He might be addicted to it."

This newest addition to the Marvel cineverse sounds like it's going to be able step beyond the shadow of the 2003 movie.

Marvel also released the full Daredevil panel from New York Comic-Con. The panelists include Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Vondie Curtis-Hall (Ben Urich), Vincent D'Onofrio (Wilson Fisk), Ayelet Zurer (Vanessa), Toby Moore (Wesley - Wilson Fisk's right hand man), and Bob Gunton (Leland Owlsley).

The video contains strong language.
