Darth Vader Will Reportedly Appear in STAR WARS Spin-Off ROGUE ONE
This isn't exactly a huge shock, but it's still cool to hear: according to Birth Movies Death, Darth Vader will appear on screen in Gareth Edwards' upcoming spin-off Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One. It's not a shock because we know that the film follows a band of resistance fighters as they attempt to steal the plans for the Death Star, and that the movie takes place between Episodes III and IV.
[Vader] will not be the main antagonist but he will be working behind the scenes, pulling strings and will appear onscreen. Literally, I'm told - he'll be showing up via viewscreen or holo projection or something. Will our heroes actually run into the Dark Lord of the Sith in person? My source wouldn't say. My source was also mum about Grand Moff Tarkin, who was of course the commander of the fully operational Death Star.
Sounds like a cool connection to the parts of the universe we already know, but I'm personally more excited about meeting the new characters and experiencing the new stories that we don't know anything about than seeing old ones return. But seeing Vader at the height of his powers is an undeniably appealing concept. Maybe we'll find out more at Comic-Con this week.
Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One stars Felicity Jones, Ben Mendolsohn, Riz Ahmed, Diego Luna, and Forest Whitaker, and it arrives on December 16th, 2016.
