DEADPOOL Movie Casts its Leading Lady
Homeland and Gotham actress Morena Baccarin has landed the lead female role in director Tim Miller's Deadpool movie. She will star opposite Ryan Reynolds, who is playing the title character described as "an assassin who undergoes a procedure to cure his cancer that ends up leaving him twisted and scarred but also imbued with superpowers."
According to THR, Baccarin will be Deadpool's love interest in the story and her character "grapples with falling for a man with a hideously scarred face."
There is no solid information on who exactly she will be playing in the movie, but there's speculation that it's Vanessa Carlyle, a.k.a. Copycat. She was featured in the script that leaked out a few years ago, but the script could have changed between then and now.
Other actresses that were up for the role included Taylor Schilling (Orange is the New Black), Crystal Reed (Teen Wolf), Rebecca Rittenhouse (The Red Band Society), Sarah Greene (Vikings), and Jessica De Gouw (Arrow).
Baccarin is a solid actress, and I've been enjoying her character in Gotham. Regardless of who she'll be playing in the more, I'm sure she's going to be great.
