DEADPOOL Movie Has an Official 2016 Release Date!
I never thought I'd see the day, but 20th Century Fox is moving forward with the long awaited Deadpool movie! They even set a release date for February 12th, 2016. I'm beside myself with excitement, and I can't believe that it's actually happening.
The movie will be released three months before Bryan Singer's upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse. Ryan Reynolds is expected to star in the film that is being directed by Tim Miller. I assume it will come from the same script that leaked online written by Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
It wasn't too long ago that the insanely cool Deadpool test footage leaked online that got fans even more excited about seeing this movie get made. Reynolds actually talked about the leaked footage recently in an interview with Niagara Falls Review saying:
“There was such an overpowering reaction to the footage, you sort of feel like, ‘Oh, so we weren’t crazy for our reasons for loving this character, for loving this role.’ It’s interesting to see the power of the Internet. It’s awe-inspiring, actually. And it’s neat that Twitter and Facebook and Instagram can move mountains when used in the right way.”
I'm happy it worked! I assume that even though FOX kept removing the video from the Internet, it was strategically released by someone close to the production to get a fan response. I'm so happy it worked, this is the best news I've heard in awhile.
In addition, Fox has moved around a few more release dates. Michael Fassbender's Assassin’s Creed went from August 7th, 2015 to not having a release date at all. The Fantastic Four reboot has also moved from June 19th, 2015 to the just vacated August 7th.
