Detailed Look at Marvel's "All-New, All Different" SPIDER-MAN and More Info
Marvel Comics is making some very drastic changes to Spider-Man in their upcoming "All New, All Different" relaunch. Thanks to MTV we have a detailed look at his new costume and the car he'll be driving around.
In this relaunch, Peter Parker is portrayed as a millionaire industrialist like Tony Stark. The series is being written by Dan Slott, with art by Giuseppe Camuncoli. The new costume was designed by Alex Ross. In an interview with Slott, he talked about Parker's character:
“Peter Parker has stepped up. He’s grown. He’s become the Peter Parker we’ve always hoped he was going to be. This company, with Peter’s inventions and Peter’s gumption has gone to new heights.
“He’s operating with Parker industries in not just New York, but also Shanghai and San Francisco and London. He’s going to be a far more global Spider-Man, and with that is going to come all new global threats. Things that will really test Spider-Man like never before.”
Talking about the new suit, he explained that there are going to be some fun surprises:
“The things this suit will be able to do and the innovations that Peter Parker has put into it will be astounding, and when you want to take something to the next level, you go, and make it look real, you go, ’hey Alex Ross, take your best shot.’ ”
I'm not sure what to think about the direction they are taking this character yet. I'll have to wait and read the comics before I form a full-on opinion, but Slott is on a mission to not just make an awesome Spider-Man, he wants to make him the world's greatest superhero.
“It’s not just this guy is Spider-Man, or that guy is a Spider-Man. Peter Parker isn’t just the greatest [Spider-Man]… We’re out to make him the world’s greatest superhero.”
So far a lot of the reactions that I've read from the fans haven't been very positive about where Marvel is taking the character. What do you all think about the new direction Marvel is taking?
