Details on Batman's 2 New JUSTICE LEAGUE Vehicles — the Night Crawler & the Flying Fox

On top of the Batmobile, Ben Affleck's Dark Knight will have a couple new additions to his vehicle arsenal in Justice League. One of them is called the Night Crawler and the other one is called the Flying Fox.

The Night Crawler is an off-road four-wheel drive vehicle that that has four tread tires that can transform into spider-like legs. This thing is described as a tank that seats up to three people and can go to places that the Batmobile can’t. There was some concept art that featured Cyborg and Wonder Woman riding in it. According to /Film:

On all fours, the vehicle is 25-30 feet in height, and the legs can puncture into almost any surface. In Justice League the vehicle is used in a sequence which takes place in an abandoned tunnel which was being constructed in the 1930s to connect Gotham City to Metropolis. This is a vehicle completely new to the Batman universe. Storyline-wise, the vehicle was created by Wayne Technology for the military in the 1960s and adopted by Batman for his needs.

Producer Deborah Snyder tells them:

“There’s a great action set piece that takes place in it. And it’s pretty hard to get the Batmobile through there, so it’s nice to have the Crawler which kind of can maneuver.”

The vehicle also packs a flamethrower, which it will use on Parademons, and it can climb walls and ceilings. This thing sounds like a monster, and it will be fun to see it in action.

The Flying Fox is a completely different beast. This is an old Wayne Technologies project that has been retrofitted to be used as a plane to help transport Justice League team members who don’t have the natural ability to fly. Snyder talked a bit about the vehicle saying:

“If you’re gonna have a whole Justice League, we have to find a way to transport them. So we have the Flying Fox. It fits all of them, but it also can fit a vehicle in it, so we can bring the Batmobile into the Flying Fox. That will be a set that we’ll be building, but we haven’t gotten there yet.”

According to the report, the plane has three levels. “The bottom houses the Batmobile, has seats on the wall and has a ramp that lowers. The second has a wall armory of weapons and a cockpit/gunner in the front where Batman or Alfred controls the weapons. The main cockpit seats two people and is situated at the back of the third level, giving this plane a much different look from many of the other flying vehicles in superhero films.”

Producer Charles Roven added:

“It’s big enough for the Batmobile and it can house other of the Bat gadgets. It’s definitely its own self contained, fantastic piece of equipment.”

This thing sounds huge! I wonder what its maneuverability is like while it flying. Will it be able to outrun or outmaneuver anything chasing after it? I imagine that if Wayne Enterprises built it, it should be able to hold its own.

I guess we'll find out when Justice League is released on November 17th, 2017.
