DETECTIVE COMICS-Inspired Batman Art by Tim Doyle
Artist Tim Doyle created this cool piece of Batman art that was inspired by the cover of Detective Comics #31. This is a One Year of Batman official Warner / DC Comics limited screen print, and the redesign of the the iconic DC cover was commissioned by the French Paper Art Club and Geek-Art. The press release for the art came with the following description:
Tim [chose] to work on the well known Detective Comics number 31 cover, from september, 1939. In this issue, the Batman leaves Gotham City to fight the mysterious Monk, who kidnapped Julie Madison, his fiancee as Bruce Wayne. This crazy pursuit leads Batman from Gotham City to Paris and to Hungary. He will fight the Monk, but also a giant gorilla ! He also uses his Batgyro, and uses his newest weapon, the now famous batarang.
The print will be available in two versions: The first is the 18x24 five color screen print that comes in an edition of 150 — they come signed and numbered. Then there's the variant edition, which is an 18x24 four color screen print that includes 3 metallics. It comes in an edition of 55.
