Disney Developing Live-Action DUMBO Movie

Movie DumboDisney by Joey Paur

Disney is developing a live-action feature film adaptation of Dumbo, and you know how I know it's going to suck? Because it's being written by Ehren Kruger, who worked on all those terrible Transformers movie scripts. I'm not sure who could watch those Transformers movies and be like, "Wow! We've got hire the writer of this to write our movie!" Justin Springer is producing the film and he has worked on bringing films such as Tron: Legacy and Oblivion to life.

I'm not the biggest fan of Dumbo. It might just be my least favorite of all the classic Disney animated movies. It's so damn depressing. The original film tells the story of a baby circus elephant who is made fun of for his big ears. His mother steps in to protect him at one point and is locked up for it. Dumbo ends up on the road with a circus and he has a mouse as his companion, who makes the elephant believe in the idea that with the help of a magic feather, he can fly.

According to THR, "the new take involves the adaptation of the original movie while adding a unique family story that parallels Dumbo's story. Also, the studio believes that because of the current state of CG technology, live-action movies featuring a soaring pachyderm (or any animal for that matter) are viable."

Disney is also developing live-action adaptations of Cinderella, The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, and a sequel to Alice in Wonderland. Next thing you know, we'll be getting a live-action adaptation of The Great Mouse Detective

Anyone out there excited for a live-action Dumbo movie being written by one of the guys who wrote Transformers
