Disney is Bringing CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, STAR WARS, and More to This Year's D23
This year's D23 Expo takes place at the Anaheim Convention Center from August 14th-16th, and while we knew what Disney was planning to highlight at their convention when it comes to animation, now we know what they'll be bringing as far as live-action properties as well. The studio has sent out a press release revealing that there will be a panel on Saturday, August 15th at 10:30am that fans will definitely want to know about. Here are the details:
Worlds, Galaxies, and Universes: Live Action at The Walt Disney Studios
Saturday, August 15, 10:30 am - Hall D23
Disney, Marvel and Lucasfilm are home to some of the planet’s best storytellers, immersing audiences fully in the world of each film from beginning to end and beyond. In this exclusive Hall D23 presentation, join Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn for a tour of upcoming live-action projects from these legendary film studios. A bevy of special guests will be on hand to offer a look at an unparalleled slate that includes Alice Through the Looking Glass, The Jungle Book, Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, Star Wars: The Force Awakens—and much, much more.
This is essentially going to be Disney's opportunity to control their own narrative and distribute information without having to compete with the other studios at Comic-Con. Since Marvel Studios skipped the geek convention entirely this year, we expect some big announcements from them (will new Spider-Man Tom Holland take the stage, perhaps?), and since there weren't any announcements made about the future of Star Wars at The Force Awakens panel, I'm guessing we'll hear some information about the upcoming Star Wars Anthology movies and maybe even confirmation of Benicio Del Toro as the villain of Rian Johnson's Star Wars: Episode VIII.
What are you hoping to see at this year's D23?
