Disney Officially Announces FROZEN 2

Movie Frozen 2Disney by Joey Paur

It should come as no surprise that Disney's Frozen is getting a sequel. The first film was such a huge hit, so of course they are going to want to cash in a build a successful franchise out of it.

The news was announced at Disney's Annual Meeting of Shareholders earlier today by CEO Bob IgerChief Creative Officer John Lasseter, and Josh Gad, who is confirmed to return to provide the voice of Olaf.

The movie is already in development at Walt Disney Animation and the directors of the first film, Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, have returned to bring Frozen 2 to life. Other than Gad, none of the other actors have been confirmed, but I think it's safe to assume that they'll all be back to reprise their role of their characters.

What's funny about this whole thing is that in an interview with BuzzFeed last week, the two directors said that Frozen 2 was not in development. I guess we can't trust anything they say again. When talking about coming up with a story for the sequel, they said:

"It all comes down to the story. Like with the short, it was so daunting until we found the story. Then it was all of the things it usually is and we were thinking of every emotion and moment and feeling. I think that’s all we can do. Until we find our way into what’s next, emotionally, it will feel too big. We just finished the short two weeks ago. One year ago, it was a lot to even think about doing a short. We were quite tired. We don’t really know what it’s like to stop for a minute and think about what we want to do next."

Well, it looks like they are doing Frozen 2 next. There's no word on when the movie will be released, and there are no details what kind of story the film will tell. There's a fun short film based in the world of the popular animated movie though called Frozen Fever, which is attached to Cinderella and hits theaters tomorrow.
