Disney's Live-Action Cruella de Vil Movie Finds a New Screenwriter

Back in 2013, Disney announced that they would be developing a new live-action adaptation of Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmations called Cruella. There really hasn't been any news regarding the movie since that announcement. The movie has since found itself a screenwriter. That writer is Kelly Marcel, who wrote an amazing script for Saving Mr. Banks and a downright awful script for Fifty Shades of Grey. In her defense, she didn't have much to work with in regards to the shitty source material for the latter. Marcel is also working on developing the story with Togetherness co-creator Steve Zissis. The first version of the script was written by Aline Brosh McKenna.

According to THR, Disney is putting the project on the fast track to development. This comes shortly after the studio announced the release dates for four untitled live-action films that will be based on their animated films. That's in addition to The Jungle BookAlice Through the Looking Glass, and Beauty and the Beast. Those four new films are scheduled to be released on December 22nd, 2017; November 2nd, 2018; March 29th, 2019; and November 18th, 2019.

I imagine they'll turn the villain into a protagonist, just like they did with Maleficent. We're getting all of these live-action adaptations on Disney properties, yet they still won't make Tron 3. In my opinion, Tron 3 seems like it would be a much better project than Cruella
