DOCTOR STRANGE Director to Helm LOCKE AND KEY Series Pilot for Hulu
I truly enjoy comics. For the most part I have stuck with mainline series, but have recently been expanding into other comic book arenas, and one of my favorites that I've come across has definitely been Locke and Key. THR has reported that Hulu just ordered a pilot for the series, which is great!
Scott Derrickson, who just directed Doctor Strange, is attached to helm the pilot episode, which was written by Joe Hill who also was the creator for the Comic. Hill has done some fantastic work that has already been adapted in the past, and he has that similar brilliant storytelling aesthetic as his father, Stephen King.
Locke and Key is about three teenagers who move to Maine with their mother after the horrible death of their father. They discover keys that have powers to unlock certain doors in the house, but a demon also is trying to get the keys to open a very terrible door.
It has a lot of mysteries and certain elements that remind me of Lovecraft as well as Stephen King. I love scary stories involving teenagers and kids. Those are the kind of stories that really made me excited to go off on adventures when I was a child.
I feel like Derrickson is a great choice for director, as he did a fine job working on Doctor Strange and it will be cool to see what he does with Locke & Key.
