DOCTOR STRANGE Needs to Be a "Ditko, Kubrick, Miyazaki, THE MATRIX Mind-Trip"

Kevin Feige has offered up a few more details on Marvel's long-awaited Doctor Strange movie. The last we heard, the studio was looking at directors for the project, and one of those directors is Scott Derrickson, who would be an awesome choice.

In a recent interview with Badass Digest, Feige discussed what Strange's powers would be like and how it would fit in with the rest of their cinematic universe. The concept they seem to be going with sounds like it will be really cool. This is what he said about it:

"Are you watching the Cosmos series? That’s magic, [the quantum physics]. It’s unbelievable. If somebody knew how to tap into that stuff, what’s the difference between that and magic?

"You don’t get into it in Harry Potter, but if a scientist went to Hogwarts he’d find out how some of that stuff is happening! We’re not going to spend a lot of time on that, but there will be some of that. And particularly for a character like Strange, who goes from a man of science to a man of faith and who traverses both worlds. And sometimes there won’t be an answer! Sometimes he’ll want an answer – 'How is this happening?!' – and nothing."

I love it, and I hope they can pull it off in a way that fans of the character will appreciate. He then added this little bit of greatness,

"Doctor Strange needs to be a Ditko/Kubrick/Miyazaki/The Matrix mind-trip."

That's pretty freakin' ambitious, but it sounds like a perfect mind trip to me! Bring it on Marvel! That's exactly the tone I want to see in a Doctor Strange movie. When talking to the Huffington Post, Feige had this to say about the movie,

"It’s time. It’s time. I would be surprised if [a Doctor Strange film not happening] were the case, yeah. Maybe three or four years, yeah, we’ll see. But, I would like it to be the case. Much like Vin Diesel, I like it when something finally happens, and then we can talk about what it is — versus rumors of what it could be or should be or isn’t yet [laughs]."

There's a good chance the the movie will fill Marvel's July 8th, 2016 release slot, but that has yet to be confirmed. I'm just happy this movie is finally going to happen!
