DOCTOR STRANGE Will Take Marvel into “Full Weird” Territory

Movie Doctor Strange by Joey Paur

The footage that Marvel showed off at Comic-Con for Doctor Strange was freakin’ badass! If you saw the trailer, then you got a pretty good taste of the crazy psychedelic awesomeness that is in store for us. There’s no doubt in my mind that this is going to be the most different and unique Marvel movie yet. It introduces Marvel fans to a whole different cosmic side to the universe, and it will take us to new dimensions.

Director Scott Derrickson recently talked to ComicBook.com about the film and said it will take Marvel to the weirdest place yet.

"I think that the short answer is this is the movie where Marvel goes full weird. That full weirdness is written in the Ditko images, the Jack Kirby images, the early Doctor Strange comic book panels that are still to this day so mind blowing."

He went on to talk about the inspiration of the comics and what they bring to the film, saying:

"What the comics did was, they brought with Doctor Strange an extra dimension into psychadelia, mysticism, and spirituality and all these very 60's things and broke open the Marvel comic book universe into the Marvel multiverse. I think Doctor Strange is going to be the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse. It's really serving the same function that the comic did. Even though it was a weird aberration as a comic book, I think it was a real linchpin in the comics. It ended up being decades of new stories and I think this movie will do the same thing."

Doctor Strange is one of coolest and most powerful characters in the Marvel universe, and it’s so cool to see him enter the MCU. I love what I’ve seen in the trailers for the film, especially that last one, and I honestly think that this movie is going to be even better than what we expect it to be.

The film stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Stephen Strange, Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, Benedict Wong as Wong, and Mads Mikkelsen will be playing the villain Kaecilius.

Marvel's Doctor Strange will cast a spell on audiences November 4th, 2016.
