DON'T BREATHE's Fede Alvarez to Direct Noir Superhero Film INCOGNITO
If you skipped director Fede Alvarez's Don't Breathe earlier this year, I'd highly recommend checking it out as soon as it comes to home video. I didn't bother seeing the Evil Dead remake he directed a few years ago, but I was incredibly impressed the skills he showed in Don't Breathe, laying out a coherent sense of geography in a contained thriller that ramped its suspense up to 11. In my review, I mentioned how he's a director I'm definitely keen to keep an eye on now, and it appears that one of his next projects has been announced.
THR says that Alvarez is attached to direct a film called Incognito, a noir superhero adaptation of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips' limited comic series. The story follows "a super villain who turns evidence against his boss, ending up in a witness protection program in which he’s administered drugs to suppress his powers and given a low-level job. But the man starts to chafe under his 'normal life' and when he finds a way to get his powers back, must decide what kind of life he wants to lead."
I haven't read the comics, but it definitely sounds like a cool concept. Any fans of the comic out there? Let me know who you think should be cast in the lead roles, and if you think Alvarez is the right guy to bring this story to life.
