DUCKTALES is Being Rebooted by Disney XD
Disney XD has announced that they will be bringing back Ducktales as a rebooted animated series. I was a fan of the original series which aired from 1987 to 1990. It was part of The Disney Afternoon daily syndicated cartoon block, and it was one of those shows that I couldn't miss when I was kid.
The new series will premiere in 2017, and it will include all of our favorite characters: Scrooge McDuck, his grandnephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie, Donald Duck, and a few other characters that I'm sure you'll remember.
The new show follows "Scrooge McDuck, his curious and mischief-making grandnephews — Huey, Dewey and Louie — and the optimistic yet temperamental Donald Duck as they embark on high-flying adventures worldwide. Other beloved characters slated to be in the new stories are: Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Launchpad McQuack, Flintheart Glomgold, Magica DeSpell & Poe, Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys (Burger Beagle, Bouncer Beagle), Mrs. Beakley and Webbigail Vanderquack."
Marc Buhaj, SVP, Programming and General Manager, Disney XD offered the following statement:
DuckTales has a special place in Disney’s TV animation history, it drew its inspiration from Disney Legend Carl Barks’ comic books and through its storytelling and artistic showmanship, set an enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults. Our new series will bring that same energy and adventurous spirit to a new generation.”
There's no word on if the series will be traditionally animated or CG, but I hope they go with traditional to keep the spirit of the original alive. I hope it turns out better than a lot of the other cartoons they've been developing.
