DUNGEONS & DRAGONS VS RICK AND MORTY is Great for D&D Newcomers and Veterans Alike Provided You Enjoy RICK AND MORTY

What do you get when you cross Dungeons & Dragons with Rick and Morty? Chaos. You get absolute chaos. Dungeons & Dragons was kind enough to send me a copy of Dungeons & Dragons vs Rick and Morty and if you like Rick and Morty, you’ll probably love this. It comes with everything necessary to play the game including basic rules, premade characters, dice, and an adventure. It also comes with a DM screen which is an invaluable tool.

It should be noted that the rules are the basic rules and as such do not contain information about creating your own character. There is enough information to start playing though, and that’s what this is all about. If you want to create your own character or have more information or more spells, you’ll need the Player’s Handbook.

That’s not going to stop people from playing though as there are five premade characters included with the adventure and everything those characters need to know is included including information about what happens each level. Now, this is where I find some problems with this arrangement. The premade characters provide every detail about what happens when the characters level up including which ability scores will increase. Now, they choose the ability score improvements that make the most sense, so it’s great for new players as a guide, but the way it’s written feels very inflexible. You can always ignore these level ups if you really want though.

The DM screen features a lot of fun artwork if you like Rick and Morty and on the inside you have invaluable knowledge. Not only does the screen mean that you can keep your die rolls secret from your players, but it has information like what different conditions do. There’s also information about food, travel, cover, and so much more. Think of it as an FAQ for DMs.

Now, what about that adventure? The Lost Dungeon of Rickedness: Big Rick Energy is written by Rick, so expect a lot of his humor and mannerisms throughout. It’s a dungeon crawl designed to take characters from level 1 to level 3. You’ll want to make sure that your players want a dungeon crawl and aren’t looking for something more story and character driven before you play, but the adventure does look like a lot of fun. Everything you need like monster stat blocks is included, so you don’t have to worry about needing anything else.

If you enjoy Rick and Morty and want to try D&D, or you want to try to get your friends into D&D, D&D vs Rick and Morty is a great tool to help with that. Heck, even if you already play and like Rick and Morty, this would be a fantastic dungeon crawl to run and I’m sure you and your friends would never forget.
