Dwayne Johnson Calls Out Some of His "Candy Ass" FAST 8 Male Co-Stars
The Fast & Furious movies have leaned into the concept of "family" in a big way over the years, and it's easy to think that the relationships between characters we see on screen are just as congenial in real life. But it appears as if there's some trouble brewing in the family.
Dwayne Johnson took to Instagram to call out some of his "candy ass" male co-stars. I'll post the video with his caption, and then his full caption below just in case he deletes the video:
This is my final week of shooting #FastAndFurious8. There's no other franchise that gets my blood boiling more than this one. An incredible hard working crew. UNIVERSAL has been great partners as well. My female co-stars are always amazing and I love 'em. My male co-stars however are a different story. Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don't. The ones that don't are too chicken shit to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I'm not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling - you're right.
Bottom line is it'll play great for the movie and fits this Hobbs character that's embedded in my DNA extremely well. The producer in me is happy about this part😉. Final week on FAST 8 and I'll finish strong.

If you follow Johnson on social media, you know that the actor is a fountain of positivity, constantly inspiring and thanking his fans and generally being an all-around great guy. So while it's always a bit of an eyebrow-raiser when an actor says anything contentious about his or her co-stars during the filming of a movie, it's an especially huge surprise to hear it from Johnson.
So the question becomes: who do you think he's talking about here? I doubt it's Vin Diesel, because Diesel, Justin Lin, and writer/producer Chris Morgan are probably the three people most responsible for resurrecting this franchise and turning it into the box office behemoth it is today. Also, over the course of the past couple of movies, Johnson's Hobbs has become allies with Diesel's Dom Toretto and his crew, so unless there's some crazy plot twist we don't see coming, it doesn't seem likely that there'd be a scene in Fast 8 in which Hobbs is interacting with them and his blood is boiling.
So could it be Jason Statham, who is returning to play the villainous Deckard Shaw? Shaw and Hobbs definitely don't get along on screen, so maybe that extends to real life as well. It could also be new addition Scott Eastwood, Kristofer Hivju, or maybe even Kurt Russell. Either way, it's good to know that comedian Paul Scheer is on the case:
