Eva Green Set to Join Disney and Tim Burton's DUMBO
I'm huge fan of Eva Green; she's such a great and intense actress and takes on fun and bold character roles. It looks like she's going to be teaming up with Tim Burton again on the live-action adaptation of Disney's classic animated film Dumbo. The two previously worked together on Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.
According to Deadline, if she's cast in the film, she will play one of the three main adult roles in the story. Will Smith was previously in talks to join the film, but he ended up dropping out of those talks and is not going to do the project. He would have played a father of the children "who develops a friendship with the lovable elephant after seeing him at the circus."
Tom Hanks was also offered a role in the film, but there's still no word on if he'll take it or not. If he does, he will play the villain in the story, which I assume will be the Circus Ringmaster. Here's a thought, what if Hanks did turn down the role and Green is in talks to take his place as the villain? I could get behind that!
There's not a lot of information on the story other than it will be “a unique family story that parallels Dumbo’s journey.” If you've seen the original Dumbo, then I'm sure you have a pretty good idea of how the story will play out. Burton will most likely put his own unique spin on it, though.
When the project was first announced, we learned that the movie will be a mix of CG animation and live action, and I'm curious to see how it turns out!
