Even Jennifer Lawrence Thinks Its "Too Soon" For HUNGER GAMES Prequels
A few days ago, the entertainment vice chairman for Lionsgate revealed that the studio is very serious about making more Hunger Games movies, and they're most likely going to be prequels so they can return to the arena-based carnage of the first film in the franchise. Many fans seem to be against this idea, and now we can add one more person to the list of those who think this is a bad idea: The Hunger Games franchise star Jennifer Lawrence.
In an interview with Variety, Lawrence was asked about her thoughts on the prequel idea and whether or not she would return to reprise her role of Katniss Everdeen:
“I wouldn’t be involved. I think it’s too soon. They’ve got to let the body get cold, in my opinion.”
MTV points out that Lawrence has spoken about this subject before, telling them:
“I think the most likely thing that will happen when everybody tries to suck this thing dry is probably going to be a prequel with younger actresses,” she joked. “But if I had my way, it’d be a Woody Allen dystopian future and Cate Blanchett would play me.”
At least that would be a creative take on telling more stories in this universe. I imagine it'll be infinitely more interesting than whatever the studio actually ends up doing. But since Lionsgate is intent on making sure this franchise will "live on and on and on," we're probably in for at least a couple more trips to Panem before this franchise is allowed to rest peacefully.
