EVEREST Featurette Exposes The Film's Extreme Weather Environment
I'm not a huge fan of Baltasar Kormakur's previous films (Contraband and 2 Guns), but Everest has me very intrigued. First off, it has a hell of a cast that includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Robin Wright, Keira Knightley, and more. And secondly, it looks like there was a real sense of reality while shooting the film, since they all went out and actually got up on a mountainside in Nepal instead of making it in some sound stage somewhere.
Universal has released a new behind-the-scenes featurette that shows off the extreme weather that the cast and crew had to deal with (notice the camera wrapped in plastic to protect it from the elements), and it gives us a little better idea of what to expect when the film arrives in theaters on September 18th.
Inspired by the incredible events surrounding an attempt to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain, EVEREST documents the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind. Their mettle tested by the harshest elements found on the planet, the climbers will face nearly impossible obstacles as a lifelong obsession becomes a breathtaking struggle for survival.
