Extended Trailer For SHERLOCK Christmas Special; Title and Release Date Revealed

TVTrailer Sherlock by Ben Pearson

It's been nearly two years since the third season finale of Sherlock, and as a big fan of the show, I'm thrilled we're getting closer to a new adventure with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. We've known about the one-off Christmas special for quite some time, and we've even seen a trailer already, but now we have an extended trailer with brand new footage and an official title: The Abominable Bride. And indeed, in the new footage, we see a crazy-looking bride shooting duel pistols from an open window, so it seems like a fitting title.

We also finally know when we'll be able to see the new episode: BBC One will debut the episode in both the U.K. and the U.S. on January 1st, 2016. But if you can hold out just a few days longer, you can actually see it in select theaters on January 5th and 6th. Since these episodes are typically around 90 minutes long anyway, that would be a really cool way to watch this.

Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game) and Martin Freeman (The Hobbit) return as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson in the acclaimed modern retelling of Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic stories. But now our heroes find themselves in 1890s London. Beloved characters Mary Morstan (played by Amanda Abbington), Inspector Lestrade (Rupert Graves) and Mrs. Hudson (Una Stubbs) also turn up at 221b Baker Street.

The fourth season of Sherlock begins filming in a few months, so thankfully we won't have another two year wait on our hands until we see more action from Cumberbatch, Freeman, and the rest of the cast. Let us know what you think about the trailer below:
