Ezra Miller in Talks for Harry Potter Spinoff Film FANTASTIC BEASTS
Ezra Miller, who will be taking on the role of Barry Allen in Warner Bros' The Flash, is now looking to join the cast of the Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
According to Variety, Miller is in early talks for the role of a character named Kredan. If cast, he will join Eddie Redmayne, who is taking on the lead role, and Katherine Waterston.
This new story is set in New York seven decades before the events of the Harry Potter saga begins. This is a planned trilogy, and J.K. Rowling is writing the script for at least the first one.
The movie is based on the Hogwarts textbook, and it follows the adventures of its author, Newt Scamander (Redmayne). Scamander is a “magiczoologist,” which is a person who studies magical creatures. Kredan is described as “a person with magical powers,” who encounters Scamander when “he stops in New York City on his travels to find and document magical creatures.” Waterston has been cast in the role of Tina, a witch operating in the U.S.
There are apparently two more pivotal roles in the film that have yet to be cast. Those include Queenie, Tina’s younger sister, and Jacob, a rival of Scamander’s.
Yates is looking to possibly cast Alison Sudol in the role of Queenie, and sources say that Josh Gad and Michael Cera are meeting with the studio next week to see who will take the role of Jacob.
David Yates is directing the film, and Rowling has explained,
“Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for 17 years, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series but an extension of the wizarding world.”
The film is set to be released on on November 18th, 2016.
