Fan Petition Wants to Bring DREDD Back as a TV Series
One comic book property that I’d love to see make a come back is Judge Dredd. I love that character, and Alex Garland did an amazing job bringing the character to the big screen in 2012. It didn’t do as well as the filmmakers would have hoped, and it doesn’t look like a sequel would move forward any time soon, if ever.
There’s been a petition going around to get a sequel made for a while, but the focus of that petition has changed. They are now petitioning for the story in the last film to continue on TV.
They've got the backing of 2000 AD, Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby, and they have more than 136,000 signatures so far. It’d be pretty cool if this actually happened. The petition says:
"With the success of series such as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and The Man in the High Castle, the clamour of the growing fanbase for more from the incredible world of the 2012 DREDD movie cannot be ignored. We call on TV and movie producers to step up to the plate and give us more, either through a pay-to-view TV series or a new movie!"
Sign the petition now, like the campaign Facebook page, follow us on Twitter, watch personal messages of thanks from Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby, and then help spread the word!
Dredd would make an awesomely perfect TV series! It’d be a shame if a network or streaming service didn’t pick this up and run with it. It could be huge!
