FANTASTIC FOUR Sequel Yanked Off of Fox's Release Schedule

Movie Fantastic Four by Joey Paur

There's been a lot of talk regarding Fox's desire to move forward with a sequel to Josh Trank's disastrous Fantastic Four film. I'm happy to report that the studio has pulled the sequel off of their release schedule and the development of it is lingering in limbo. The news came from in an announcement from the studio.

The movie was scheduled to be released in theaters on June 9th, 2017, which is one week after Star Wars: Episode VIII. Now, just because the movie has been removed from the schedule doesn't mean it's a dead project. Fantastic Four 2 could still happen one day, but now there's no target date to shoot for.

It remains to be seen what will happen now, but after that last film was released I don't think Fox should ever be allowed to make a Fantastic Four movie again. I'm sure one day they'll try again, but it probably won't be anytime soon. The best thing for them to do at this point is just let Marvel take it back so they can fix what Fox has destroyed.

Fantastic Four made $56 million at the domestic box office with a global total of $167 million. It reportedly cost about $120 million to make. After all the money that was pumped into the marketing of the film as well, the movie didn't really make much of a profit, and it ended up bombing in every capacity.
