FARGO's Rachel Keller Joins FX's X-MEN Spin-Off TV Show LEGION

Despite petering out a little at the very end, I really enjoyed the second season of FX's Fargo. I'm very impressed with what showrunner/creator Noah Hawley was able to do by pivoting to a prequel period piece, and I'm extremely excited to see what he does next. One of his upcoming projects happens to be an X-Men spin-off TV pilot (also for FX) called Legion, and he's tapped one of his Fargo actors to appear in a lead role. Deadline reports that Rachel Keller, who played Simone Gerhardt in season 2, will play the female lead, "a scrappy, optimistic woman in her 20s." Her character name and mutant powers are being kept under wraps for now, but there's early rumor that her powers could be "tied to human touch," so feel free to speculate away in the comments.

The show is described as follows:

Legion tells the story of David Haller. Since he was a teenager, David has struggled with mental illness. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.

Comic fans will recognize the name David Haller as the son of Professor Charles Xavier. Legion is the first of two X-Men-themed shows that are currently in the works, with Hellfire being the other one. You can read more about that right here. No word yet on when production begins on the Legion pilot or when it might make it to the small screen, but we'll keep you posted.
