First Full WARCRAFT Trailer Feels Just Like It Should
Today at BlizzCon 2015, Legendary Pictures and Duncan Jones dropped the first trailer for Warcraft, and holy crap was it amazing! The animation of the orcs and the extreme saturation of the colors give it such a uniquely stylized look that stands out and hearkens back to the games. This is shaping up to be the movie that fans of the Warcraft series deserve.
The question still remains, however: will it be able to bridge the gap between gamers and the average moviegoer? While the hyper-stylized nature of the film appeals to people who have been playing Warcraft since the first game on MS-DOS, it might not be what folks who are expecting a more Lord of the Rings-style of fantasy film want. Case in point, I showed the trailer to my mom who has listened to me and my brother play Warcraft II and WoW growing up and she didn't totally dig the animation of the orcs. It will be tough to please both crowds, but I think Duncan Jones can pull it off. I know I'm going to have a hard time waiting for next summer!
