First Official Look at Thor, Hela, and Valkyrie in Marvel's THOR: RAGNAROK

Thanks to EW, we have our first official look at Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Cate Blanchett as Hela and Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie from Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok!

As you can see, Thor is sporting a completely different look with his short hair that has long been rumored. I'm sure you've also noticed that the God of Thunder’s hammer, Mjolnir, is nowhere to be seen. Instead, Thor is wielding a pair of deadly looking swords that he'll probably be using in the gladiator matches. I'm also digging his new gladiator-like appearance. When talking about playing Thor again for this movie, Hemsworth said:

“It was nice not to have to sit in the makeup chair for that hour each morning. It felt like a rebirth for me as the actor but also as the character.”

Then there's Hela, who looks sinister and menacing. Blanchett looks so good as this character! I like the character design that they went with. As she talked about her character, Blanchett said:

“She’s been locked away for millennia getting more and more cross, and then, with a mistake, she gets unleashed and she ain’t getting back in that box."

We all know that she'll be unleashing the powers of hell in this movie and Thor, Hulk, and Loki will be fighting against her to save Asgard. They'll also be getting a little help from the warrior Valkyrie, who looks completely badass. It's explained that Hela sends Thor to Sakaar, which is the planet in Planet Hulk. Hemsworth explains:

“[Sakaar is] basically where every wormhole across the universe dumps out its trash, so you get people from all walks of life with all sorts of incredible abilities and powers. No one cares what prince or king Thor may have been in another world. Also, his strength is pretty easily matched with those he finds himself amongst.”

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige says that Thor: Ragnarok is going to shake things up and says, "I have a belief that if you’re lucky enough to get to part 3 of a franchise, it is your obligation not to fall to threequel-itis."

In Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok — the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization — at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger — the Incredible Hulk!

The movie is being directed by Taika Waititi and also stars Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins, Jeff Goldblum, Karl Urban, and Mark Ruffalo. Thor: Ragnarok is set to be released on November 3, 2017.
