First POWER RANGERS Trailer Focuses on the Team Gaining Their Powers

The first teaser trailer for the upcoming Power Rangers has been released, and it focuses on the team gaining their powers. As you'll see, the movie has a completely different tone than the original series. For example, it seems like the Rangers are a group of troubled teenagers that go to a shitty high school. It's like The Breakfast Club but with Power Rangers.

I was hoping to see the Power Rangers in action or a glimpse of a Zord, but that didn't happen. We do get a few shots of the team testing out their new powers, a brief glimpse of Elizabeth Banks' Rita Repulsa, and then a shot of Jason morphing into the Red Ranger at the end. I was kinda disappointed with the trailer, but I'm sure we'll get a better one later on.

Saban's Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

The Rangers you see here include Dacre Montgomery as Jason the Red Ranger, RJ Cyler as Billy the Blue Ranger, Naomi Scott as Kimberly the Pink Ranger, Becky G as Trini the Yellow Ranger, and Ludi Lin as Zack the Black Ranger. Bryan Cranston is playing Zordon.

Power Rangers hits theaters on March 24th, 2017.
